A national multidimensional model for comparative performance evaluation of public general hospitals

Abstract

Objectives:

To develop a national multidimensional model for comparative performance evaluation of Israel's public general hospitals (PGHs).

Hypothesis:
The model's target populations will differ in their attitudes towards the need for the model; their definition and characterization of its components; their views regarding the manner of data presentation; their attitudes towards the proposed model and related issues; and their views on the model’s potential usage and feasibility. Variations in these variables will also be found within each target population according to its unique characteristics.
Methods:

The study has four sequential stages, each with its own methodology: Definition of the model’s conceptual framework – literature review and in-depth interviews.

Definition of the model’s components and their characterization – Delphi process.

Examination of the target populations’ attitudes towards the proposed model and a selection of related issues – attitude questionnaires.

Examination of the model’s feasibility and usage potential – case study and SWOT[1] analysis.

[1]SWOT – Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.
