Clinical Integration of Neonatal Departments, NICUs and Community Services to Improve the Quality of Postnatal Care with Minimum Cost

Abstract

Background:

As of 2006' there is an outgoing collaboration between the Neonatal Department of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center and the Ruppin Academic Center School on Engineering. This collaboration has developed a methodology to implement a quality management system, creating processes and methods to support smooth and consistent integration once the child returns to the community.

Objectives:

Examine the effectiveness of the quality management infrastructure in support of the integration, b. Examine to what extent the processes support effective usage of community health services by the families.

Hypothesis:

Examine the procedure where integration tools operated in the hospital's infrastructure, enable the creation of consistent and smooth health care and collaboration between the community and hospital care givers.

Methods:

The research is conducted in two phases. The first phase is mainly data collection of types of services, frequency and intensity given to children in their first year of life. The second phase will compare the data once the quality management processes are implemented, supporting a smooth integration between hospitals and community services. In addition, satisfaction surveys will be conducted among families and community care givers.
