Is there any difference between the treatments: Rehabilitation, Pelvic Floor Muscle Training, Bladder Training or Drug Therapy, For Urge Urinary Incontinence, in the Long Term Outcome, with Urinary Symptoms, Quality of Life and Cost- Effectiveness?

Abstract

Objectives:

The main issue is to compare the long term efficacy and cost- effectiveness of the various treatment options for Urge Urinary Incontinence (UUI), in older women. The second issue is to shed light on the mechanism of UUI dysfunction.

Hypothesis:
The main hypothesis is that the patients of PFR group will show normal urinary frequency and significantly improvement in quality of life and functional status, compare to the anther treatments. After 1 year, the PFR group will be the most cost- effectiveness.

Methods:

200 women, age: 45-75, who had diagnosed with UUI.
Study Design: Parallel Assignment, Single Blind, Randomized, 4 arms.
Improvement outcomes: Daytime and nighttime urinary frequency, frequency of incontinence episodes, Quality of life, Depression and Functional status. Maximal bladder capacity, morbidity and Health service utilization.
Data processing: Results will classify as statistical significance for value p<0.05. The processing will perform with SPSS-11.5 software.
