The Maccabi information system enables the organization to efficiently manage its employees, provider relations, payment of claims, logistics, purchasing and its finances:
- Online Claims Management – Maccabi's relationships with overwhelming majority of its independent health care provides is managed on line. All of Maccabi's physicians are computerized as are the majority of other health care professionals. All of the pharmacies are computerized.Hospital billing is computerized. For example, each physician interaction with his patient is transmitted online to the Maccabi central computer and constitutes, in effect, an online bill, which is paid by Maccabi directly to the physician's account. Each time a pharmacy dispenses a drug, the claim is transmitted online to Maccabi's central computer, accumulated and paid on a monthly basis.
- Managing Patient Appointments – The appointment system in all of Maccabi's clinics is computerized which enables Maccabi to manage the queues provide a timely response to patient needs
- ERP/SAP – Maccabi has adapted and implemented the SAP system for Health Resources, Logistics, Purchasing and Financial Management so that it now has an integrated computerized administrative system. This enables Maccabi to manage itself efficiently and to be able to assess its functional and financial status with minimal lag time, so that it is able to identify potential problems and prevent them.
- Maintaining a Balanced Budget – The management information system produces information and reports that enable the organization to monitor its financial status in real time relative to its budget and financial objectives. This enables the organization to identify emerging trends and take immediate corrective action.
