The foundation of the Maccabi ICT system is the insured member. Every member is registered in the system which includes all relevant demographic information as well administrative information. Over the years, every encounter the member has had with the health care system has been captured and stored and has formed the basis for his electronic health record. The data base includes the following information on 1.7 million members:
- Name, age, sex, marital status, place of residence, and other demographic data such as place of birth, etc.
- Every visit to every physician, including the name of the physician, the date and time of the visit, up to 4 diagnoses, office procedures performed during the visit. There are 1.3 million physician visits per month – 15.6 million visits per year.
- Every drug prescription filled by the patient (1.3 million prescriptions per month), name and strength of the drug, amount, dosage, the name of the prescribing physician, the date the prescription was filled, the name and address of the pharmacy.
- Every laboratory test (20,000 per day), the name of the referring physician, the date the test was performed and the results.
- Pathology tests (over 16,500 per month), date performed, place where the specimen was taken, results
- X-rays and ultrasound tests (over 50,000 per month) including the actual images as well as the radiologists interpretation and diagnosis
- Every visit to a specialty clinic (over 200,000 per month) the date and place of the visit
- Every visit to a hospital outpatient clinic (about 160,000 per month), the name of the hospital, the name of the clinic, and the date of the visit
- Every hospitalization including admission and discharge diagnoses, the name of the hospital, the dates of admission and discharge.
- Visits and treatments provided by nurses and other health care professionals such as physical therapists, dieticians, speech therapists, occupational therapists and psychologists.
